Explora Journeys - what it is, and what it is not
Explora Journeys is the standalone ultra-luxury ocean travel brand founded by MSC Group and the Aponte family in 2021. It is not the MSC Cruises experience - Explora operates a separate all-suite fleet, separate pricing, separate crew standards, and no shared sailings with MSC Cruises ships. It is not the private superyacht M/Y Explora, and it is not Explora, the South American adventure-lodge company. On this page, "Explora" always refers to Explora Journeys, the cruise line whose ships are Explora I through Explora VI.

What is Explora Journeys?
Launched in 2023 by the Aponte family, founders of MSC Cruises, Explora Journeys is positioned as a distinct ultra-luxury ocean travel category - closer to a private yacht experience than to a conventional cruise. The fleet is being built at Fincantieri shipyards in Italy and will total six vessels by 2028.
Residential-style ocean-front suites
Every accommodation aboard Explora Journeys is a suite with a private terrace. The entry-level Ocean Terrace Suite measures 377 sq ft inside plus a 75 sq ft terrace - the largest entry-level accommodation in the cruise industry. Suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, separate living and sleeping zones, walk-in wardrobes, spa-inspired bathrooms, and refreshment centers stocked with premium spirits and wines.
